Alexis Love Tackett

Alexis Love Tackett, age 10, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Dayton Children’s Hospital after a yearlong battle with brain cancer. Alexis was born on November 21, 2002 in Springfield, to her beloved parents, Reid and Laurie (Powell) Tackett. Along with her parents, she leaves to cherish her memory three of the best sisters a girl could ask for, Sierra, Sydney and Sophia; loving grandparents, Julia Powell, Dan Powell, Dan Tackett and Lucy Weatherman; aunts and uncles, Jason and Korina Powell, Mike and Tracey Tackett, Wade and Sabrina Tackett and Bob Tackett; cousins, Morgan, Alyssa, Brandon, Mason, McKenzie, Jessica and Samantha; and special friends, Amiee and David Carvour and Shakira, Alyssa, Isaiah and Taylor. Alexis is preceded in death by her grandmother, Karla Powell. Alexis was a bright and cheerful young lady who loved helping others. She was always very giving and strong and would do anything to make you smile. Alexis was in 4th grade at Lagonda Elementary School and will be sadly missed by all her friends, teachers and classmates. Her loving spirit and outgoing personality will always be in the hearts of those who knew her. Alexis loved being outside skateboarding, riding bikes, climbing trees or taking hikes. Most every time she left the house to go play outside, she never came back with shoes on. Sometimes her family would find them, sometimes they wouldn’t, but this is a fond memory that will always be cherished. She loved puzzles and especially the game called Roblox. When she was younger, Alexis loved peanut butter sandwiches and would stop at nothing to make sure she got one. So every time you eat a peanut butter sandwich, think of Alexis and how she made you smile. Viewing will be held on Friday, April 26, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. at JACKSON LYTLE & LEWIS FUNERAL HOME where a celebration of the beautiful life Alexis lived will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park.
