Vera H. Atwell

Vera Ball Atwell, 93, passed away on October 28, 2013 at Springfield Regional Hospital. Vera, or Aunt Bunny, as she was affectionately known by all family members, was born to the Harry and Clara Ball on May 6, 1920, who preceded her in death along with sisters Belva Bell, Frances White, Floretta Esclavon, brother Harry Ball, Jr., and ex-husband, Carris Atwell. She is survived by sister, Erma Rockhold, Springfield, Ohio, sister-in-law Kathryn Ball, Chillicothe, Ohio, and brother-in-law James Esclavon, Seattle, Washington. Vera was a lifelong resident of Springfield, Ohio. She was employed by Dr. Louis Mendelson, and Harry Ball Jr. Realty, as Manager of Tubman Towers for several years. She was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church, participated in their ministries and worshipped with El Bethel Temple. She enjoyed cooking, baking, photography, reading, and collecting music. Her greatest joy was caring and babysitting for the children of the family. She leaves to cherish her memory, a loving family: Claret Belle, Loretta Sanford, Kimberly Sanford, Geneva Sanford, Jordanlinn Sanford, Jo Sanford, Delisa Sanford, Alicia Sanford, Walter Sanford Jr., Walter Sanford III, Isaiah Burgess, Myana Sanford, Angela Spencer, Albert (Tshinesh) McNeill, Jr., Marley McNeill, Andria McNeill, Kalil Greenfield, Jr., Delores Bell, Mariebeth (Jeff) Marsh, Jeffrey Marsh, Jr., Allison (Kobie) Watkins, Alice Bell, Lonnie (Joanne) Bell, Jr., Gregory Bell, Erin Bell, Gerald (Rebecca) Bell, Shaneik Issac, Jeremiah Issac, Vannessa (James) Downey, Connie (Earnest) Thomas, Eric Thomas, Nia Thomas, Nova Thomas, Anita (Pastor Raymond) Lloyd, Raymond Lloyd, Jr., Stacy Lloyd, Robin Lloyd, Nikki (Zirome), Makayla Portis, Rhonda Lloyd, Cassandra Lloyd, Crystal Lloyd, Caleb Lloyd, Eddie (JoAnne) White Jr., Malika (Jason) Matthews, Jayla Matthews, Julian Matthews, Joan White, Doretta Esclavon, Cindy (Guy) Edwards, Nikki (Anthony) Coleman, Donovan Keel, Brianna Coleman, Connor Lewis, Kevin (Denise ) Ball, Kevin (Ashley) Ball, Jr., and cousins. Special friends include Mrs. Jayne Peterson, Mrs. Chris Prater and Family, friends at Opportunities Garden Apartments and El Bethel Temple, Kara Brown, and India Rogan. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Covenant United Methodist Church and El Bethel Temple. Visitation will be held at Jackson-Lytle & Lewis Funeral Home, 2425 N. Limestone St., on Sunday Nov. 3, 2013 during 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Services will be held at Covenant United Methodist Church at 11:00 am with Pastor Diane Turner- Sharazz officiating.
