Laura B. Vincent

VINCENT, Laura B. (Sarver) passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2012. Laurie was born in Eaton, Ohio, on January 4, 1920, to Richard and Florence Sarver. She was the youngest of six children. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Dayton, Ohio, in 1936. Laurie was married to Howard H. Schaeffer in 1937. They divorced in 1944. She then married Dale D. Vincent in 1946 who was her husband for 57 years. Laurie was an avid golfer at Reid Park. She enjoyed bowling in the 1950s, 60s, 70s and, beginning again in 1999, until three weeks before her death. Laurie has been a life time member of VFW # 1031 and the Air Force Sergeants Association as well as the NARFE. She was a lifelong member of the National Home Gardening Club, a permanent member of #2689 Womens International Bowling Congress and Elderly United. Laurie retired from Peters & Russell & ITT in 1970. She worked for 4 years for H & R Block in Ft. Myers, FL. Laurie was preceded in death by her husband, Dale D. Vincent, her three sisters, Ruth Drake, Grace Orr and Lillian Brunner and two brothers, Richard and Ralph Sarver. She is survived by her beloved nieces, Dee Morrella of Dayton, Ohio, and Millie Wetz of Plant City, FL. Laurie's life was greatly enriched by a circle of friends who became family and for whom she was grateful including golf partners, bowling friends and good neighbors. She was extremely grateful to Ralph and Hyacinth Anderson, Mary Ingle, Jackie Lenze, Jennifer and Eddie Steffani, and the staff of Good Shepherd Nursing Home for their steadfast and kind care. A visitation and memorial for Laurie will be held on Tuesday, October 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the JACKSON LYTLE & LEWIS FUNERAL HOME, 2425 North Limestone Street, Springfield, Ohio. Friends and family will be received between 6 and 7 p.m.; then, at 7, those present will be invited to participate in a celebration of the life of Laurie Vincent and will have an opportunity to share their own personal remembrances about life with Laurie. Laurie will be interred in New Holland, Ohio, at a later date alongside her husband.
