Jewel "Katie" Booghier

BOOGHIER (Fisher), Jewel Kathryn "Katie" Very peacefully passed at home on July 4, 2015 surrounded by loved ones. Jewel was born in Miami County, Ohio during a snowstorm at home. (The doctor had to stay all night!) The third of five children born to Jesse Lee and Elsie Edith (Bodenmiler) Fisher on New Year's Day, January 1, 1928. A 1945 graduate of Bradford High School in Bradford, Ohio Jewel was voted most popular girl in her senior class, played saxophone in the marching band and was also a cheerleader. After high school, Jewel worked as a telephone operator, then onto Beauty School in Dayton, Ohio, graduating with a degree in cosmetology, later receiving her manager's license. She was a talented hairdresser for over 40 years before retiring to golf, travel, and spend time with her family. Jewel is survived by her 3 devoted children and spouses, Caren (David) Cashell, Julia (Thomas) Lockard, and Bradley (Pattie) Coverdale. Also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Bob (Emily) Vlaskovich, Nickolas Vlaskovich, Rachel Vlaskovich, Jenna Grigsby and Jonathan (Karoline) Hupp. And adored great-grandchildren, Jillian Kate Grigsby, George Vlaskovich and Delaney Vlaskovich. She is also survived by siblings C.J. and Janice (Fisher) Hocker, Chalmer and June Fisher, and Joann (Fisher) Owen as well as many, many beloved nieces and nephews. Jewel is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 26 years, Robert B. Booghier, sister and brother-in-law Forest and Novella (Fisher) Puterbaugh, brother-in-law, W. Edson Owen, nephews, Mark Edson Owen and Douglas Baker. We give many heartfelt thanks to the kindness of Kindred Hospice of Dayton and to our amazing home caregivers Bonnie, Tina, Barbie and Janice. There are no words to express our gratitude for the care of our precious mother. We will sorely miss her spunk and her silliness. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Jackson Lytle & Lewis Funeral Home from 4:00-8:00 p.m. with her funeral service on Wednesday, July 8, at 10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home with Reverend Raymond Stewart officiating. Burial at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church, 201 N. Limestone St., Springfield, Ohio 45503 in Jewel's honor.
