James E Murray

James E. Murray, 77 died on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 7:15 a.m. surrounded by his family at his home in Springfield, Ohio. James was born on April 8, 1936 in Meally, Kentucky to Arby and Anna Preston Murray. Both parents preceded him in death. Fifty-nine years ago, on November 27, 1954, he married Alma Faye Rigsby, who survives. They were married by Elder Paul Turner at his home in Sciotoville, Ohio where the ceremony was witnessed by their parents, Arby and Anna Murray and Elder Floyd and Nettie Rigsby. James retired from the Navistar Trucking Company with 30 years of service. James was fortunate to be able to retire at the age of 56 so he and Faye could enjoy many winters in Florida with family and friends. James was converted on March 21, 1975 and joined the United Baptist Church on March 30, 1975. He placed his membership at Alder Chapel United Baptist Church and was baptized on April 20, 1975. James was set aside by Alder Chapel United Baptist Church and ordained as a deacon on March 15, 1986. Both James and Faye are well loved by everyone in the Church and have served as good examples of service and dedication to the United Baptist Church. James and Faye were blessed with a son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Pamela Murray of London, Ohio and a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Robert McDonald of Nashport, Ohio. They have one grandson, Bryan Conley and his wife, Lindsay of Adams Mills, Ohio; and three granddaughters, Trina Conley of Nashport, Ohio; and Hayley and Kayley Murray, both of London, Ohio. They also are blessed with four great-grandchildren, Jackson and Addison Conley and Jalynn and Bladen Riley. James is also survived by an older brother, Hobart Murray of Beavercreek, Ohio and a younger sister, Elizabeth Barker of Bainbridge, Ohio. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers: Arnie; Arvin; John; Robert; and Samuel Murray. The family would like to thank Crossroads Hospice for all of their caring help during James’ illness. They would also like to thank very good friend, Lori Raster and James’ sister-in-law, Hazel Conley for all of the care they also provided. Calling hours will be at the Jackson Lytle & Lewis Funeral Home, 2425 North Limestone Street, Springfield, Ohio on Sunday, January 19, 2014, from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 20, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Alder Chapel United Baptist Church, 8320 Morgan Road, West Jefferson, Ohio. Officiating at the service will be Elders Charles Smith, Arvil Murray, and Jeff Conley.
