Irene Elizabeth Buck

BUCK, Irene Elizabeth Covington 91, joined God's Angels on Saturday, June 11, 2011. She was born on May 8, 1920 in Georgetown, Kentucky, daughter of Elmer and Julia Francis "Fannie" (Southworth) Covington. Irene was employed by and retired from Rinks Department store, formerly known as Ontario for 18 years. Prior to that, she was employed by Wren's department store. She was a member of Springfield Missionary Baptist Church and she and her husband Herb were former members of First Presbyterian Church until its closing where they looked after shut-ins and prepared the church for weekly worship. Mom loved people and enjoyed talking to everyone she met. She also loved to eat out, travel, and took many trips on Amtrack, plane and with tour groups. She bowled and square danced for many years and participated in Senior Olympics. Survived by four children, Carol Ruggles and Richard MacMahon of Springfield, Rita Kapp of Urbana and James "Tony" (Sandi) Robinson Walnut, California; Stepson, Henry "Hank" Robinson Hueston Woods; grandchildren, Timothy Ruggles, Tiffany (Adam) Russell, Tyler Kapp (Jessica) and Kimberly (Harold) Moran all of Springfield, Anthony and Christopher Robinson, Walnut, California, Danielle Robinson Hayes, Kansas, Heather Robinson, Vancouver, Washington, Mark Robinson , Pomona, California, Sandra Walter, Huber Heights; great grandchildren, Hilary Ruggles, Anthony and Logan Harding, Brenden and Levi Russell, Amanda and Andrea Moran all of Springfield, Kaylee Robinson Vanderwel and Christopher Jason Robinson, Jr., Walnut, California, Alex Walter and Christopher Walter, Huber Heights; step grandchildren, Donald Showalter, Enon, and Ronald Showalter, South Carolina. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert W. Buck; son, Keith Alan Robinson; sister, Arva D. Towles; stepsons, Raymond "Ray" Robinson and Robert "Junior" Robinson. Friends may call from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Friday, June 17, 2011 at JACKSON LYTLE & LEWIS FUNERAL HOME, 2425 N. Limestone St. Springfield, with funeral services beginning at 2:00 PM with Pastor James Reed and Pastor David Girbert officiating. Burial in Ferncliff Cemetery.
