Gary Everhart

EVERHART, Gary Richard, 64, of Cedarville passed away peacefully, September 25, 2012 at the Dayton VA Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Born June 4th, 1948, he was the son of the late Wilson and Rachel Everhart. Gary was a 1966 graduate of Cedarville High School and a 1974 graduate of Central State University. He served in the US Army Airborne in Vietnam 1968-1969 and to which he received the Purple Heart. He retired in 2007 from General Motors after 42 years of service. He was owner of G E Ruff Coins. Gary loved the Cincinnati Reds, collecting coins, playing golf, fishing, landscaping/flowers, and most of all playing with his cats. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, American Legion, Purple Heart Association, Paralyzed Veterans, Aldora Chapter, and the Scottish Right. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Marla Everhart of Cedarville, daughter Renee (Justin) Kohl of Springfield, parents in laws: Lamarr and Betty Hamman of Cedarville, brother in law Max (Linda) Hamman of Columbus. Brother Robert (Christine) Everhart of California, sister Teresa Jane (Larry) Fosson of Florida. Several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Special friends David and Roberta Litteral of Lynchburg, and Jeff Firm of Jamestown. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, infant daughter Carrie Louise, and previous wife Janet (Posey) Everhart, step-mother Alice (Burkett) Everhart, and his favorite dogs Tippy and Cody. Special thanks to the Cleveland VA Hospital, and the Dayton VA Medical Center, and Liberty nursing home in Jamestown for all their excellent care. Thanks to Dolores Beatty, Rob Barger, Mike and Robin Collier, Fred Luttenburger, Delores Barr, Marilyn Carnell, and Sherry Mussetter for all their support. Viewing will be from 6 to 8 pm on Friday, September 28, 2012 at the Cedarville United Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 29 at 10:00 am, with burial to follow in North Cemetery.
